Two of the most popular tile types in modern construction are GVT (Glazed Vitrified Tiles) and PGVT (Polished Glazed Vitrified Tiles). While both are manufactured from the same vitrified porcelain base, they differ significantly in their surface treatment, appearance, and ideal applications.
GVT stands for Glazed Vitrified Tile. The tile body is vitrified — sintered at temperatures exceeding 1200°C — and then a decorative glaze layer is applied and fired. The result is a tile with low water absorption (<0.5%), high durability and a rich decorative surface in matt, satin or lappato (semi-polished) finish.
PGVT stands for Polished Glazed Vitrified Tile. It begins as a GVT tile but undergoes an additional mechanical polishing process that grinds and buffs the glaze surface to a mirror-like sheen. The result is a highly reflective, premium-looking tile surface.

Both GVT and PGVT are excellent choices — the decision comes down to your project's aesthetic goals and practical requirements. For practical floor areas, GVT is often the better choice. For luxury feature applications, PGVT's mirror finish is unmatched.
